Many believers yearn for the blessed opportunity to see the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in their dreams. It is a sign of immense spiritual closeness and love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One such powerful advice came from a simple yet luminous-hearted man — an advice that transformed lives, including my own.
The Encounter in a Foreign Mosque
I once went to pray in a mosque abroad. The mosque was almost empty, except for myself and a man from Tajikistan. His appearance was ordinary, but his face radiated a strange light (nūr).
I led the prayer as the imam. After the prayer, the Tajik man, in broken Arabic, said to me:
“I want to give you an advice. Follow it.”
I asked, “Please tell me.”
He said:
“Every day, send one thousand salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ. You can divide them across the five daily prayers. You will be astonished by the transformation it will bring to your life.”
Then he added:
“When you do this, no worry will overwhelm you, no debt will distress you, and you will find relief from every hardship. The Prophet ﷺ will recognize you on the Day of Judgment, for your salawat will be conveyed to him.”
Before leaving, he smiled and said:
“You will see him ﷺ in your dreams — sometimes to comfort you, and sometimes to warn you.”
Personal Experience
I took his advice seriously. For the first three years, I did not see anything in my dreams. Yet my life changed entirely — my affairs became easy, I received Allah’s mercy and protection, and my heart was at peace.
Eventually, I began to see the Prophet ﷺ in my dreams. Each dream carried a special message — sometimes a warning against a sin, sometimes glad tidings.

Everyone I have shared this advice with has eventually seen the Prophet ﷺ in their dreams — either bringing good news or giving a warning.

Whoever recites 1,000 salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ daily will, without doubt, see him ﷺ in their dreams.

The Command in the Qur’an
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and greet him with peace.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:56)
Hadith: Salawat Reaches the Prophet ﷺ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا
“Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times.”
(Sahih Muslim — 408)
And he ﷺ said:
إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَلَائِكَةً سَيَّاحِينَ يُبَلِّغُونِي عَنْ أُمَّتِي السَّلَامَ
“Allah has angels who travel the earth to convey to me the greetings of my ummah.”
(Sunan An-Nasa’i — 1282)
Hadith: Seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a Dream
The Prophet ﷺ said:
مَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَتَمَثَّلُ بِي
“Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot imitate me.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari — 6994, Sahih Muslim — 2266)
