Forgetting Pleasure Means Forgetting Jannah

PoriPurno News Desk | August 09, 2025
Many people may never have thought about this before: If you forget the concept of pleasure, you will eventually forget Jannah.
Why? Because Jannah is full of pleasures—unimaginable and everlasting. It contains everything a believer could desire, in the most perfect and limitless form.
When you value pleasure, when you truly appreciate its importance, you will naturally value Jannah and long for it even more. The more you understand the beauty of halal pleasures in this world, the stronger your desire for the eternal pleasures of the Hereafter will become.
Worldly Pleasures as a Reminder of the Eternal
Traveling across countries, witnessing the beauty of Allah’s creation, enjoying the lawful blessings of life—all these experiences should remind a believer:
“If this temporary world feels so beautiful, how much greater will Jannah be?”
This mindset keeps you motivated to work for the Hereafter. You become inspired to do more good deeds, avoid sins, and seek Allah’s pleasure so that you may attain the eternal rewards.
But when you forget pleasure, you begin to forget Jannah. Slowly, your aspirations shrink to worldly concerns—providing for children, securing material stability—even at the cost of compromising Islamic values, committing corruption, or hiding the truth.
A Decline in Desire, A Decline in Aspiration
Sadly, even among religious circles and Islamic leadership, we sometimes see a lack of aspiration for Jannah. This is not only due to ideological weakness but also because many have lost their connection to the idea of pleasure.
As people age, hormonal changes can lower physical desires—such as the longing for the Hoor al-‘Ayn. Without this attraction, some lose a strong emotional pull toward Jannah itself.
Yet Allah did not promise the pleasures of Jannah without wisdom. The desire for the Hoor motivates some believers toward ultimate sacrifice and martyrdom in His cause. And the pleasures of Jannah are not limited to the Hoor—they encompass endless joy, peace, and satisfaction, far beyond our imagination.

The Real Problem: We Do Not Think About Pleasure
The core issue is that we have stopped reflecting on the pleasures of Jannah. We neither discuss them, nor yearn for them deeply. As a result, our motivation for justice, sacrifice, and calling to pure Tawheed diminishes.
The Call to Action
Value pleasure—halal pleasure—because it will help you value Jannah. And when you desire Jannah, you will feel driven to establish justice and fulfill your duty to Allah.
Pleasure → Desire for Jannah → Motivation to Please Allah → Justice and Truth.
Forgetting this chain is forgetting the essence of our purpose.
