At the invitation of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka today (Monday) at 2:00 PM aboard a flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, en route to Malaysia for a three-day official visit.
Key Agreements and Cooperation on Agenda
During this high-profile visit, five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed across multiple sectors including defense, energy, and halal food. In addition, three important exchange of notes will take place, marking enhanced bilateral cooperation.

Major Areas of Focus
The visit aims to strengthen collaboration in the following key areas:
- Defense Cooperation: Agreements to boost strategic and military ties between the two nations.
- Energy Cooperation: Joint initiatives in the energy sector to support sustainable development.
- Trade and Commerce: Signing of an MoU between the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and Malaysian companies (MEMOS) to enhance bilateral trade relations.
- Strategic Studies Partnership: An MoU will be signed between the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), Malaysia, to promote academic and strategic exchanges.
- Industrial Collaboration: An MoU between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) to deepen industrial cooperation.
Exchange of Notes on Key Sectors
The three areas where formal notes will be exchanged include:
- Halal Food Management: Collaboration to enhance standards and management of halal food production and certification.
- Foreign Service Training: Cooperation between the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Malaysia.
- Higher Education Collaboration: Strengthening ties in the higher education sector to promote academic exchange and cooperation.
This visit marks a significant step forward in Bangladesh-Malaysia relations, opening avenues for expanded cooperation and mutual growth in strategic, economic, and cultural sectors.
