BSCL and Starlink Sign $2.5 Million Deal to Expand High-Speed Internet Access in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has signed a business-to-business agreement worth $2.5 million with Starlink to provide satellite internet services in Bangladesh.
Under the contract signed on July 11, BSCL will invest approximately $2.5 million (around BDT 29.25 crore) for procuring Starlink terminals and data packages, confirmed Shah Ahmedul Kabir, General Manager (Sales & Marketing) of BSCL.
Out of the total amount, $1.1 million is allocated for hardware—specifically Starlink user terminals—while the remaining funds will be used for the data pool.
Though the full payment will be made for Starlink services, Kabir clarified that the amount will not be transferred as a single upfront payment to the American company. Instead, under Starlink’s reseller framework, the local entity—Starlink Bangladesh—will import terminals and sell them to BSCL and other local resellers in Bangladeshi Taka.
Resellers will receive a 15% discount on hardware and a 5% discount on service charges. They will also get access to Starlink’s reseller portal and APIs to manage clients and services.
Furthermore, resellers have the autonomy to set their own pricing, bill customers directly, and provide value-added services such as installation and technical support.
Potential customers include banks, hospitals, factories, data centers, offshore installations, and industries such as aviation, maritime, energy, construction, and media.
Globally, Starlink markets its residential and roaming packages primarily to individual consumers, while relying on resellers for corporate and government clients under its “Business” and “Priority” plans.

In Bangladesh, BSCL and other local agents will be able to serve both enterprise and residential markets, although individuals can still purchase Starlink services directly via Starlink’s official website.
