Qiwa Platform Revamps Employment Contract and Absence Reporting System in Saudi Arabia

Thursday, July 31, 2025 – PoriPurno.com News Desk

The Qiwa platform, managed by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), has introduced significant updates to its employment contract management and worker absence reporting system—aimed at improving labor governance and supporting expatriate workers in line with Vision 2030.

✅ New Guidelines for Reporting Absence from Work

As part of the latest update, employers can now report a worker as “absent from work” only under specific conditions:

  1. Valid Iqama Requirement: The employee’s residency permit (Iqama) must have at least 60 days of validity remaining.
  2. No Active Contract: The employee should not be engaged under an active employment contract at the time of the report.

Once an employee is flagged as “disconnected from work,” a 60-day grace period is provided to:

  • Transfer to another employer.
  • Exit the Kingdom.
  • Sign a new employment contract with the current employer.

Failure to act within this period will result in the worker being formally listed as “absent from work,” and their profile will be removed from the company’s Qiwa records.

📄 Contract Termination and Notification Protocol

Qiwa now automatically updates the status of employment contracts upon completion of their notice period—whether ended by the employer or the employee. If no new contract is initiated, the system marks the agreement as “terminated” and notifies both the HRSD and the Ministry of Interior to ensure full transparency and regulatory compliance.

📝 Free Employment Certificates for Workers

Expatriates and other employees can now access free official documentation via the Qiwa Individuals account, including:

  • Salary Definition Certificate (for current employment)
  • Service Certificate (for previous employment)

These certificates are accessible online and serve as verified documents to strengthen professional portfolios and CVs.

Steps to Access Employment Certificates:

  1. Log in to your Qiwa Individuals account.
  2. Go to the “Employment Certificates” section under Services.
  3. Choose the required document type.
