A 5-Minute Charge Powers EV for 563 KM: CATL Unveils Groundbreaking Battery Innovation

As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to gain popularity worldwide, breakthroughs in EV technology are rapidly transforming the industry. Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) has unveiled a revolutionary advancement that promises to reshape the future of EVs.
Introducing the âShenxingâ supercharging battery, CATL claims it can power a vehicle for up to 563 kilometers (approximately 350 miles) on just a 5-minute charge. On a full charge, the battery can deliver a range of up to 800 kilometers, setting a new benchmark in the EV industry.
At a grand event held in Shanghai, Gao Huan, CATLâs Chief Technology Officer, stated:
âWe are breaking the boundaries of performance and opening the door to new possibilities. Our goal is to make Shenxing the new standard for electric vehicles.â
Outpacing the Competition with Revolutionary Technology
Compared to its closest competitor, BYDâs latest battery, Shenxing offers 70 miles of additional range, creating significant buzz in the global market. Even more impressively, the battery performs efficiently in cold climates â capable of reaching 80% charge in just 15 minutes at -10°C.
A Major Step in the Global EV Transformation
Industry analysts believe the ultra-fast charging capability of the Shenxing battery could be a game-changer in eliminating “range anxiety” â a common concern among EV users regarding charging time. This development is particularly promising for passenger transport and long-distance commercial vehicles.
While CATL has not yet announced when mass production will begin or which automotive manufacturers will adopt the Shenxing battery, expectations are high that it will enter the global market by the end of 2025.
