Electric Shuttle Service Launched on Dhaka University Campus, Fulfilling Long-standing Student Demand

Dhaka, Bangladesh â In a significant move addressing a long-standing demand of students, electric shuttle vehicles have officially been launched on the University of Dhaka campus. The service, initiated by the Green Future Foundation, began on Monday, May 13, with the aim of providing safe and affordable transportation for students.
In its first phase, four electric shuttle vehicles have been deployed. The service will operate daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, directly benefiting students of Kuwait Maitree Hall and nearby residential halls.
Mahabub Talukder, Executive Member of Green Future Foundation, stated:
âOur primary goal is to ensure safe commuting for students. We are also planning to add 14 more shuttle vehicles in the near future to expand coverage and enhance transport facilities across the entire campus.â
Each shuttle can accommodate up to 14 passengers, with fares ranging from a minimum of BDT 10 to a maximum of BDT 20, depending on the travel distance within the campus. A volunteer student from Dhaka University will be assigned to each vehicle to assist with operations and fare collection.

Initially, the shuttle service will run on four specific routes within the campus. Detailed information on the routes will be announced soon by the foundation.

Previously, in November 2024, the University of Dhaka authorities introduced three non-AC minibuses on three circular routes operating from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
