In a Facebook post on Monday afternoon (August 11), he revealed that between August and September, severe flooding could affect 20 to 30 districts across the country.

Mustafa Kamal Palash stated, “Since 2020, there has been no major true flood in Bangladesh. The floods that occurred in 2022 in Sylhet and in 2024 in Chattogram were mainly flash floods or hill torrents.”
He further explained, “A real monsoon flood refers to the flooding caused by the Ganges River basin via the Padma River in Bangladesh, submerging riverside and coastal districts. Similarly, vast areas along the Teesta, Brahmaputra, and Jamuna rivers get inundated during such floods.”

According to Palash’s forecast, from mid-August through early September 2025, severe flooding may occur in at least 20 to 30 districts along the banks of the Padma, Jamuna, Teesta, and Brahmaputra rivers.
He warned, “During this period, the water levels of these rivers will exceed danger marks, flowing into coastal areas and flooding adjacent districts.”
