How Loyal Were the Fascists to India? 25 Nuclear Staff Unpaid for Months

Over the past two months, nearly 600 scientists and 2,500 officials and employees of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) have been left without their salariesâa situation that sounds unbelievable but is alarmingly true. The root cause lies in a controversial software system developed by an Indian company.
Why Are Scientists Opposing the Software?
According to reliable sources, the Ministry of Science and Technology decided to use a payroll software developed by an Indian firm to manage the salary disbursement for BAEC personnel. However, this decision was met with strong opposition from the commissionâs scientists and senior officials.
The scientists have raised serious concerns, stating that the software, managed remotely from Chennai, India, not only processes payroll but also collects sensitive personal and institutional data. This includes employeesâ personal details, family histories, departmental finances, import-export records, international cooperation, and even nuclear research data.
Experts warn that nuclear energy is an extremely sensitive sector, and allowing a foreign entity to access such data poses a significant national security risk.
A senior scientist, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
âWe strictly follow the guidelines set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). But handing over our confidential information to another country through this software is unacceptable. This is clearly against our national interest.â
Who Decided to Halt Salary Payments?
So far, there has been no official statement explaining the salary suspension. However, insiders claim that salaries were halted because BAEC employees refused to submit data into the software due to security concerns, and their objections were ignored by the authorities.
Growing Concerns Over National Security
This incident has raised alarms among security experts. A former intelligence officer commented:
âNo country should allow its nuclear technology information to be managed by foreign software. This is a clear violation of strategic security protocols.â
What Is the Government Saying?
As of now, neither the Ministry of Science and Technology nor the BAEC has issued any official response regarding the matter.
Calls for Immediate Action
Concerned citizens and tech professionals have urged the government to intervene immediately and launch a transparent investigation. They believe that undermining the morale of national scientists and compromising national security will hinder the countryâs progress.
Conclusion:
For a developing country like Bangladesh, there is no alternative to building its own software solutions, information technology infrastructure, and security systems. Relying on foreign software in critical sectors like nuclear energy is undeniably a strategic vulnerabilityâa concern that demands urgent attention.
